Terms

Exeunt is made and sold by Tapansoft. These terms cover what you may do with it and what we promise. They’re deliberately short.

Your licence

When you buy Exeunt — $5 USD, one-time — you get a licence to use it on one Mac. It’s yours personally. Please don’t share your key, resell it, or pass it on with a second-hand Mac. If you need it on more machines, or you want it for a team, email us and we’ll sort it out.

You may not redistribute Exeunt, sell it, or present it as your own work.

The free trial

Exeunt works fully for 14 days without a licence. When the trial ends it keeps running and keeps showing you what it would have done, but stops quitting apps. Nothing is deleted and no settings are lost. The trial exists so you can decide before paying.

What Exeunt does, precisely

This matters, so it’s worth being exact. Exeunt watches for windows closing. When an app’s last window closes, it asks that app to quit — the same request macOS sends when you press ⌘Q. It is never Exeunt that closes a window, and it never forces an app to quit.

That means your app’s own “save changes?” prompt appears and finishes before Exeunt asks anything, exactly as it would if you had quit the app yourself. An app with unsaved work will refuse to quit, and Exeunt leaves it alone.

You are still responsible for saving your work, as you always were.

No warranty

Exeunt is provided as it is. We’ve tested it carefully and use it ourselves every day, but we can’t promise it will suit every Mac, every app, or every way of working — which is why there’s a 14-day trial.

Limits on what we owe you

If something goes wrong, what we owe you is limited to what you paid for Exeunt. We’re not liable for indirect losses — lost work, lost time, lost income, or knock-on effects.

Nothing here takes away rights you have by law. If you’re a consumer in the UK, the EU, or somewhere else with statutory protections, you keep them whatever this page says.

Buying and refunds

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller, Paddle.com. Paddle is the merchant of record for all our orders: they take the payment, handle tax, and their buyer terms apply to the transaction itself. See Trial and refunds for how refunds work.

If your licence stops working

A licence that’s refunded or charged back is revoked, and Exeunt goes back to watching without quitting. If that happens and you think it’s a mistake, email support@exeunt.app — it usually is a mistake, and it’s usually quick to fix.

Settling a disagreement

If something goes wrong, email us first. Almost everything is a misunderstanding and gets fixed in a day. Please give us 30 days to put it right before taking it further.

If we genuinely can’t agree, and you’re in the United States, any dispute will be settled by binding arbitration on an individual basis, under the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. You and we both give up the right to a jury, and to bring or join a class action.

Some sensible exceptions, because a blanket rule would be unfair:

  • You can still take a small claim to small claims court if you’d rather.
  • Either of us can go to court to stop straightforward misuse of intellectual property.
  • If you don’t want this, you can opt out by emailing support@exeunt.app within 30 days of buying, saying so. Nothing else about your licence changes.
  • If the class-action waiver above is found unenforceable for a particular claim, this whole arbitration section doesn’t apply to that claim.

If you’re a consumer outside the United States — in the UK, the EU, or anywhere with statutory consumer protections — this section does not apply to you. You keep your right to bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes

If we change these terms we’ll update the date above. Changes apply going forward, not retroactively to a licence you already bought.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA. If you’re a consumer elsewhere, your local consumer law may also apply, and nothing here displaces it.
