Free for 14 days, with everything working. No account, no card, no key. After that it’s $5 USD, one-time — and if you don’t buy, nothing is deleted: it keeps showing you what it would have quit, and stops quitting.

Trying it

The trial is the full app. It starts the first time Exeunt runs, not when you download it, and it needs no account, no card and no key. While you’re trying it, it contacts nobody unless you choose Check for Updates.

When the 14 days are up, Exeunt keeps running and doesn’t nag. It carries on watching and showing you what it would have quit — it just stops quitting anything. Buy a licence, enter the key, and it picks up exactly where it was: your settings and your never-quit list are all still there. More about the trial.

Buying it

Checkout is handled by Paddle, who are the merchant of record for the sale. They take the payment, handle VAT and sales tax wherever you are, and email you a receipt. This site then emails your licence key — separately, because Paddle’s receipt doesn’t include it. There is no account to create here and no password to remember.

Already trying it? You don’t need to download it again — just enter the key. If you have a discount code, there is a field for it on their checkout page.

System requirements

macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
Processor Apple Silicon or Intel — universal binary, native on both
Size around 1 MB
Signing Signed with a Developer ID and notarised by Apple
Permissions Accessibility, granted once — see below
Version 1.0.5

Installing

  1. Open the disk image you downloaded.
  2. Drag the Exeunt icon onto the Applications folder shown beside it.
  3. Open your Applications folder and double-click Exeunt.
  4. A small red dot appears in your menu bar, at the top right of the screen. That’s Exeunt. It has no Dock icon.

It needs Accessibility permission, once

Exeunt needs permission to see your windows, or it can’t do anything. On first launch it asks, and opens System Settings for you. Go to Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, find Exeunt in the list and switch it on. If it isn’t listed, click the + button and choose Exeunt from Applications.

There is no need to restart the app — it starts working right away. It’s the only way macOS lets an app see other apps’ windows. Exeunt doesn’t read your screen, your keystrokes or your documents.

It arrives switched off

Nothing is quit until you say so. Click the red dot in the menu bar and click “Exeunt is on” so it gets a tick.

Leaving it off for the first day is a good way to try it. It still watches and records everything, so you can look at the Activity list and see what it would have quit, without anything actually closing.

What you get when you buy

  • A licence key, emailed to you. No account and nothing to register. The app checks the key with this site twice, then never again of its own accord — what that sends.
  • The download is always here, on this page — every version is kept.
  • Free updates within 1.x.

Buying for a team? Licence for 5 Macs, $9.99 one-time. Team licences can be deployed already licensed — how. For bulk pricing or a different number of Macs, email support@exeunt.app.

Refunds are handled by Paddle — what that means.
